Abyss on Roblox immerses you in an underwater realm where you hunt fish using a harpoon gun instead of a traditional rod. Fish serve as the primary income source, with their value influenced by rarity, weight, star rating, and the presence of mutations. The game features five biomes: Forgotten Deep, Ocean, Ancient Sands, Spirit Roots, and Angler Cave, each boasting its own array of species, ranging from Common to Mythical.
Catching Mechanics
To initiate catching, equip your harpoon gun and aim at a fish. A meter will appear on the right side of your screen displaying a green bar alongside a fish icon. Align the green bar with the fish icon until the meter is completely filled. More advanced harpoon guns weaken fish more quickly, while upgraded tubes enable deeper dives where rarer species can be found.
Once a fish is caught, it enters your inventory. You can sell your catch to the Kraken NPC located in the main starting zone by selecting a fish from your hotbar and choosing the sell option. A premium “Sell Anywhere” feature is available for 369 Robux, allowing you to sell catches from any location.
Fish Species in Forgotten Deep
Forgotten Deep serves as the initial biome, known for its easily accessible catches and shares several species with the Ocean zone.
| Fish | Rarity | Price/kg | Behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Tang | Common | $14 | Passive |
| Clownfish | Common | $12 | Passive |
| Tang | Common | $12 | Passive |
| Pufferfish | Uncommon | $13 | Passive |
| Salmon | Uncommon | $9 | Passive |
| Mahi Mahi | Rare | $8 | Passive |
| Lionfish | Rare | $20 | Aggressive |
| Barracuda | Epic | $20 | Aggressive |
Be cautious of the Lionfish, which inflicts damage over time upon attack, so maintain your distance until ready to harpoon it. Additionally, the Pufferfish has both a normal and inflated variant, and you must catch both to complete the bestiary entry.
Fish Species in Ocean
The Ocean biome overlaps with Forgotten Deep for common and uncommon species while adding its own unique range of rare and epic fish.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Blue Tang | Common | Passive |
| Clownfish | Common | Passive |
| Pufferfish | Uncommon | Passive |
| Salmon | Uncommon | Passive |
| Sea Horse | Rare | Passive |
| Piranha | Rare | Aggressive |
| Blobfish | Rare | Passive |
| Sailfish | Epic | Aggressive |
| Shark | Epic | Aggressive |
| Bluefin Tuna | Legendary | Passive |
The Bluefin Tuna is the sole Legendary fish exclusive to the Ocean zone. Piranhas and Blobfish can also be found in Angler Cave, providing two different biomes to farm them.
Fish Species in Ancient Sands
Ancient Sands dives deeper and features two Legendary species along with a new selection of fish spanning from common to epic.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Pompano | Common | Passive |
| Cod | Uncommon | Passive |
| Blackfin Tuna | Uncommon | Passive |
| Scorpionfish | Rare | Aggressive |
| Grouper | Rare | Passive |
| Shark | Epic | Aggressive |
| Cavefish | Epic | Passive |
| Bigmouthfish | Legendary | Passive |
| Ancient Shark | Legendary | Aggressive |
The Pompano, priced at $15/kg, is one of the best common fish for early gold farming. However, the Ancient Shark, being aggressive, poses a challenge for players attempting to catch it.
Fish Species in Spirit Roots
Spirit Roots is the deepest of the standard biomes and the only location where Mythical fish can spawn naturally. It also shares the Sailfish with the Ocean zone.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Pacific Fanfish | Common | Passive |
| Jellyfish | Uncommon | Passive |
| Napoleon | Uncommon | Passive |
| Sunfish | Rare | Passive |
| Narwhal | Rare | Passive |
| Sailfish | Epic | Aggressive |
| Hammer Shark | Epic | Aggressive |
| Eyefish | Legendary | Passive |
| Whale | Legendary | Aggressive |
| Dragonfish | Mythical | Aggressive |
Note that the Whale and Dragonfish cannot be captured with a harpoon; they must instead be defeated using combat. The top three players based on DPS will receive drop rewards, ensuring that at least one meat drop is guaranteed, with a 15% chance of obtaining a head drop from each encounter.
Fish Species in Angler Cave
Angler Cave is a small, locked area that can only be accessed after completing the Lost Captain quest in the Ocean biome, which rewards a key to open the cave’s entrance. This area hosts just four fish species.
| Fish | Rarity | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Blobfish | Rare | Passive |
| Piranha | Rare | Aggressive |
| Anglerfish | Rare | Aggressive |
| King Anglerfish | Mythical | Aggressive |
Similar to the Whale and Dragonfish, the King Anglerfish is a kill-only target associated with the Lightkeeper quest. The top three players contributing to DPS receive drops, including at least one guaranteed King Anglerfish Meat and a 15% chance for a King Anglerfish Head.
Fish Pricing — Stars and Weight
Each fish you catch has a base price per kilogram based on its species. The final selling price is influenced by the fish’s weight and its star rating, which varies from one to three stars. Three-star fish fetch the full base price, while lower ratings diminish the payout significantly.
| Star Rating | Money Multiplier |
|---|---|
| ★★★ | x1.0 |
| ★★ | x0.75 |
| ★ | x0.2 |
A fish rated one star yields only 20% of its base value, making the star rating crucial for maximizing profit over raw weight.
Fish Mutations and Value Multipliers
Fish can spawn with random mutations, which further multiply their sell price on top of their base values, star ratings, and weights. Rarer mutations come with higher multipliers but are less frequently encountered.
| Mutation | Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Poop | 0.33x |
| Rock | 1x |
| Coral | 1.1x |
| Moss | 1.1x |
| Metal | 1.2x |
| Sand | 1.25x |
| Albino | 1.3x |
| Transparent | 1.4x |
| Cactus | 1.45x |
| Spirit | 1.6x |
| Fossil | 1.8x |
| Gold | 2x |
| Negative | 2x |
| Fairy | 2.3x |
| Invisible | 2.5x |
| Neon | 2.8x |
| Ultraviolet | 3.6x |
| Rooted | 4.5x |
| Shadow | 6.66x |
| Angelic | 7.77x |
| Abyssal | 8.5x |
The Poop mutation actually decreases a fish’s value to a third of its normal price. In contrast, the Abyssal mutation can multiply the selling price by 8.5 times, making even common catches valuable. A Legendary or Mythical fish with an Abyssal mutation represents the most lucrative catch in the game.
Spirit Roots and Angler Cave contain the highest concentration of rare, Legendary, and Mythical species. To reach these depths, you need strong tube upgrades for deeper dives and better harpoon guns to tackle aggressive fish. Upgrading your gear before venturing into these areas is the best strategy for landing significant catches that will boost your gold reserves.
